The Person You Know Is Not the Person I Know

Recently, I’ve been having recurring conversations about growth and people’s pasts. About how the person I know may not be the same person someone else knows.

And that is something a lot of people struggle to understand.

Let me be clear. I do not agree with or condone the situation involving Sean Combs and Cassie Ventura. But I do understand what Caresha meant when she said the man she experienced was different.

I understood that.

Because sometimes the version of a person you encounter is not the same version someone else has experienced. Two things can be true at once. That does not excuse the harm caused, but it does acknowledge reality.

Personally, I do not believe everyone changes. Some people remain the same. But I do believe that some people do the work. Some people grow. Some people become better than who they once were.

And that growth matters. It deserves to be recognized.

Think about it this way. Could you imagine standing before God and saying I have changed, and being told it does not matter, that you are still condemned because of who you used to be?

That does not align with the grace we believe in.

We all have a past. Some parts are not pretty. But are we not allowed to grow from those versions of ourselves?

Are we not allowed to become better?

To the person reading this, you are allowed to grow. You are allowed to change. You do not have to stay stuck in a version of yourself that no longer reflects who you are.

And you do not have to shrink yourself into a box just because others refuse to see your growth.

Some people will always hold onto who you used to be
Let them.

Love ya, Bye!🌸
