Have you ever had to factory reset your phone? I’ve had to do it a few times in the past and even recently. Usually, you do it when something is going wrong or when you’re upgrading your phone. It keeps freezing, glitching, or just not working the way it should. Whatever the reason, a factory reset gives you a clean start. Your phone isn’t perfect afterward, but it’s better. It runs smoother. It works the way it’s supposed to again.
That’s exactly how my life feels right now.
I feel like I’m having to factory reset my entire life. My thought process. The way I view relationships and friendships. My job. My career. My living environment. The people I associate myself with. Even the way I deliver and receive things emotionally. I’m having to completely factory reset ME.
Little by little, slowly but intentionally, I have been working toward that reset. Cleaning up my social media, whether that means unfollowing, unadding, or simply creating distance. Not out of bitterness, but out of necessity. Decluttering my closet and getting rid of old worn out things around my home. Removing certain words from my vocabulary, mainly cursing. Setting and enforcing stronger boundaries and limiting access to me.
Sometimes things aren’t broken beyond repair. They’re just overloaded. Too many old habits. Too many old connections. Too many versions of yourself that no longer fit who you’re becoming.
And just like with a phone, a reset doesn’t mean you lose everything. It means you keep what actually matters and get rid of what’s been slowing you down.
Love ya, BYE!
