Did you see that Cam Newton and Lady London interview?
If not, go watch it.I highly suggest you check it out. I applaud Lady London for how she carried herself, graceful, composed, and unapologetically confident.
Meanwhile, Cam was, as usual, arrogant and egotistical.
During the interview, Newton asked her about her non-negotiables while dating. Her response:
“Please do exactly what you said you were going to do and be exactly who you said you were when you met me.”
I am 100% here for that. This is one problem many people have when it comes friendship, relationships, etc.
It got me thinking about people who show one version of themselves just to connect with you. At first, they seem perfect. But if you wait and watch, their true selves always come out. You cannot hide who you really are forever.
Think about it. A friend who seemed quiet, genuine, and lovable. Later, you realize why they said they did not have friends. Because they were the problem. Or a relationship where someone made you feel special, promised the world, showered you with flowers. You thought you found someone real. Then the dark side shows up, and they are no longer the person they appeared to be.
Some say, “People change.” But real change is growth. Growth should make someone better, not reveal who they were hiding all along. If someone surprises you with their true self, it was not change. It was a mask.
That is exactly why what Lady London said hit so hard. She set the standard from the start. She knew the value of honesty and showing up as yourself.
No masks, no surprises, just clarity.
And honestly, more of us need to do the same.
Love ya, BYE!
